I still remember those days in the late 80’s when the best form of entertainment during summer holidays was Mario Bros on Nintendo. It was the hottest game then and in spite of soar thumbs and fingers, all I could actually think of was making sure Mario and Luigi working at the bottling factory were able to prepare packages of bottles to be loaded onto a delivery truck. Each time the truck got loaded and left, the size of the crates doubled and tripled. It was quite the balancing act then!
Today, the world of games is different thanks to the variety of gaming options and consoles available. Today, most children play their games online or offline on PC, on their mobile phones, and there is the third category, which is a gaming console for example XBox or PS4.
So, what has really changed in all these years? Technology!
Yes, we live in a world that is surrounded by technology and driven by technology. A world where games have become more character driven like the Call of Duty: Black Ops, where you “the player” are a member of an elite special forces unit engaging in covert warfare. The game has been created in such a way that being behind the enemy lines is as real as it can be!
Similarly, if you are a die-hard fan of the legend called Lionel Messi or the club FC Barcelona, then FIFA 2015, is something that is definitely a game to die for. That’s not all, a game like FIFA 2015 has also been released for a variety of Platforms like Microsoft Windows (PC gaming), PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Nintendo 3DS, Wii, iOS, Android Windows Phone, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
This simply means that I can play my favourite game on PC as well as any gaming console!
This is not all, one of the astounding part of technology is that it is changing and upgrading itself each day. As a result, new games are being launched with better gameplay, mind blowing graphics, great audio, and even multiplayer options.
Graphics, over the years have played an important role in the promotion of a game and has enabled the growth of its fan base. Games like Battlefield 4 Limited Edition and The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt have really become hot favourites thanks to awesome graphics of highly-detailed environments. For example: Witcher 3 has implemented graphics that brings to life Novigrad’s sprawling architecture and makes the red sunlit fields look as real as it can be.
Although, graphics is not the most important aspect of any video game, but it does play an important role especially in improving a player’s level of immersion.
As a result, playing games over the internet, PC, XBox or PS4 has not just spiraled up to the next level but also laid the foundation for a future where gaming would become an integral part of our daily lives!
